This is the public outreach homepage of UK exoplanet research.
It was originated for the Royal Society's
Summer Science Exhibition 2008.
Planets around stars beyond our Solar System are called extrasolar planets or exoplanets. Since planets are smaller than stars and only reflect light, they are much fainter than stars. It is therefore difficult to detect planets except for those in our own Solar System. Three detection methods have proven successful - we have given them the nicknames Wobbles, Winks, and Blips. The video below gives an overview of exoplanets and how they are discovered; further information may be found on the other pages of this website.
